5-Day Masai Mara - Lake Nakuru - Lake Naivasha

The Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Naivasha safari is a perfect five-day Kenya safari that offers some of the country’s most spectacular views. This safari takes you to the Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya’s most popular wildlife safari destination. You will also visit Lake Nakuru National Park, a birder’s haven and home to the critically endangered black and white rhinos, as well as Lake Naivasha. This safari starts and ends in Nairobi.

After pick up from the airport or in your hotel in Nairobi by your professional guide, depart the Nairobi region for Masai Mara. You will drive through the dramatic Great Rift Valley, with a brief stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint, where you will have a chance to take photos before proceeding to the Masai Mara National Reserve, arriving in time for lunch.

This enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains, famous for its spectacular great wildebeest migration. It is also home to the Big Five; lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and rhino. Proceed for an evening game drive, tracking various animal species and birds with your driver-guide, returning to the camp for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, you will depart with picnic lunch boxes for a full-day game viewing in the Masai Mara National Reserve. A Masai Mara safari is an unmissable highlight of any holiday in Kenya. There are breathtaking panoramas in every direction, a vast range of wildlife, including the Big Five, and a rich cultural heritage to explore. Kenya’s Masai Mara is, without a doubt, one of the greatest safari destinations in Africa.

Between July and October, the great migration gets busy. Millions of zebra and wildebeest make the dangerous crossing across the Masai Mara in search of new grazing territory. In their wake comes a veritable horde of predators, including lions and leopards. Our guide will ensure that you get the best photographic opportunities and enrich you with the amazing cultural practices of the local communities of the Maasai people. Dinner and overnight will be at the tented camp.

After breakfast, depart the Mara region for Nakuru with an en-route lunch. You will have scenic views of Mount Longonot and Lake Naivasha from afar on the main highway. You will arrive in the evening for dinner and your overnight stay at the Buraha Zenoni Hotel.

After breakfast, you will proceed on a game drive in Lake Nakuru Park, known for its prolific birdlife including flamingos. The park contains a sanctuary for the conservation of the white rhino, while species like Cape buffalo and waterbuck can be seen near the shoreline. Enjoy a hot lunch and drive to Naivasha. You have the option to take a boat ride on this freshwater lake to see hippos and fish eagles (extra cost). Later, return for dinner and an overnight stay at the Hotel.

After breakfast, have a nature walk in the Hell’s Gate National Park. You may also hire bicycles to cycle in the park. There are over 100 bird species in the park, including vultures, Verreaux’s eagles, augur buzzards, and swifts. African buffalo, zebra, eland, hartebeest, Thomson’s gazelle, and baboons are also common. The park is also home to klipspringer antelope and Chandler’s mountain reedbuck. Enjoy a hot or picnic lunch and later drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon. We will drop you off at the airport or your hotel in Nairobi.
